Abstract
In long-distance inductive power transfer (IPT) applications, the coils are usually with magnetic cores to enhance magnetic field coupling. In this paper, ultra-thin nanocrystalline cores are used as the magnetic cores of IPT system and the coil design method is given. By finite element analysis (FEA) simulation, the feasibility of simplifying the structure of nanocrystalline cores is analyzed, and the reliability of the whole system embedded in 110kV insulator has been demonstrated. In addition, this paper puts forward a method to optimize IPT system efficiency for a given load, and verifies the effectiveness of this method through simulation and experiment. A 1.5m five-coil system with nanocrystalline cores is constructed and the experimental results show that the efficiency can be improved significantly, especially in the case of large load resistance.
