Abstract
In the context of M2M communications, security presents a significant challenge for researchers due to complexities introduced by the large deployment, decentralization, and heterogeneity of devices. Conventional security solutions often struggle when applied to M2M systems, primarily due to the constraints imposed by resource-limited devices. This paper presents a blockchain-based authentication protocol with sidechain integration designed to enhance the security of M2M communications at the device domain level while addressing the constraints of M2M devices and scalability challenges inherent to blockchains. A comprehensive analysis, performance evaluation, and formal verification of how the protocol effectively addresses potential attacks are conducted to confirm its security posture for M2M applications.
