Abstract
This research aims to improve the heating efficiency of compressor driven air conditioning systems in cold regions to combat the global warming and promote the energy efficiency. This study proposes a novel approach to efficiently heat the compressor by utilizing the losses of the electric motor. The energy conversion process during compressor preheating is analyzed firstly, and then the numerical relationships for the losses generated by the driver and the energy conversion within the compressor motor are established. To distribute energy effectively and adjust the heating power, a novel heating modulation algorithm is proposed. Additionally, the relationship between motor losses and input variables is explored using the finite element analysis. Experimental validation was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the proposed method.
