In 2016, the IMS AdCom and the editorial board of the Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine decided to dedicate a special issue each year to a specific IEEE Region. Over these years, we have testified with great satisfaction the value of that decision. These special issues have been a valuable means of disseminating research work carried out in the instrumentation and measurement (I&M) areas across diverse regions of the world. This year, it is our great pleasure to present this special issue dedicated to IEEE Region 9, Latin America. The collection of papers reflects not only the region's commitment to advancing the field of I&M but also showcases the unique challenges and innovative solutions emerging from this vibrant scientific community. Serving as guest editors and contributing to this goal has been a great honor and a source of personal satisfaction.
