Abstract
The terahertz frequency band (0.1 ~ 10 THz) has the characteristics of high carrier frequency and large available bandwidth. Implementing frequency hopping in the terahertz frequency band will further enhance the communication's anti-interference capability. Compared with the all-electric method, the photon-assisted technique can break through the bandwidth limitation of electronic devices and generate terahertz frequency hopping signals with high frequency, large bandwidth, and adjustable flexible reconstruction. In this paper, a new broadband terahertz frequency hopping signal generation technique based on optical assistance is proposed. In this scheme, the dual optical comb is composed of two Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs). Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and carrier suppressed single sideband modulation are used to achieve the generation of terahertz frequency hopping signals with a bandwidth of 20 GHz, and the working frequency range can be reconstructed. In the simulation experiment, the frequency of the generated signals can hop between 100 and 120 GHz.
