Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a crucial technology in the field of precision agriculture, as it facilitates the utilization of current farm management technology to enhance both the quality and quantity of crops. Root conservation zone (RCZ) refers to a designated region in the soil that promotes the best possible growth and health of plant roots. Concentration of irrigation in this zone can enhance plant growth and result in economical usage of water. The objective of this research is to automate irrigation in RCZ. IoT-enabled smart systems are designed to accomplish the above objectives. The developed IoT-enabled Smart Root Conservation Zone Irrigation System (I-SRCZIS) continuously measures the moisture content in RCZs using soil moisture sensors and automates irrigation modules whenever the moisture level drops below a threshold. The developed work is made in real-time using the Node MCU. Further moisture monitoring is accomplished through a mobile app.
