Abstract
In this letter, we investigate a beam placement problem for multicast services in low-earth-orbit satellite environments to determine the optimal beam center position that maximizes the minimum transmission rate of users within a spot beam. We solve this problem using two approaches: an iteration-based gradient ascent algorithm and a geometry-based heuristic algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes optimally determine the position of the beam center and maximize the minimum transmission rate of users while balancing complexity and performance.
