Abstract
Power-voltage curves help measure the proximity of voltage stability in power systems. They are commonly used for system expansion and voltage collapse assessment in steady-state and offline studies. The contribution of this work involves the modification of the pseudo-arc-length method to select the generation and load points that are allowed to increase their power during the tracing of the PV curve, and the implementation of the method in a real-time controller used in the electrical industry, in order to carry out the analysis of PV curves in real time. We aim to assess how industrial devices trace PV curves and apply this power system analysis tool to real-time on real-world power grids, therefore, the performance evaluation of the continuation method is performed on a SEL-3555 for the New England 39-bus benchmark system. In addition, to prove the reliability of the results, a comparison is made with professional simulation software PSS/E.
