Abstract
This paper demonstrates a prototype of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), which can simultaneously execute the functionalities of sensing and communication. The ISAC signal is configured according to the new radio (NR) protocols with minor modifications, to satisfy both the requirements of sensing and communication. The front-loaded physical downlink shared channel-demodulation reference signal (PDSCH-DMRS) is employed as the sensing signal, i.e., no extra time-frequency resource for sensing is needed. Procedure of sensing signal processing is described, mainly including fundamental processing, clutter suppression and system calibration. An official test is conducted under the guidance of International Mobile Telecommunications 2030 (IMT-2030) promotion group. From the text results, the root mean square errors (RMSE) of range and velocity measurements are shown to be 0.1935m and 0.0643m/s respectively, meanwhile the communication throughput is approximately 1.213Gbps with signal layer transmission. In the paper, two advanced algorithms with moderate computation complexity are introduced, aiming to improve the resolution performance of range and velocity, which is constrained by the signal bandwidth and coherent processing interval (CPI).
