Abstract
Aiming to inaccuracy measurement of phase fraction, the research is studied effects of flow pattern, particle size, and liquid fraction on phase fraction measurement based on principles of ultrasonic attenuation and time-of-fight (TOF), using the multi-physical field coupling simulation technology in oil-gas-water three-phase flow. The result shows that different flow patterns and phase distributions have influence on gas phase fraction measurement at constant gas phase fraction. In the gas-liquid stratified and liquid-liquid dispersed flow, the particle size of dispersed phase is inversely proportional to TOF, whereas, the oil phase fraction is proportional to TOF in smooth stratified flow. The results provide a theoretical basis for measurement model optimization of phase fraction, which would improve the measurement accuracy of oil-gas-water three-phase flow in horizontal pipelines by ultrasonic method.
