Abstract
Significant advances in recent years have resulted in cutting-edge high-power, high-repetition-rate laser sources based on ytterbium (Yb) gain medium, such as fibre lasers, Innoslab, and thin-disk lasers [1]. This is crucial for many applications, including scaling the flux and repetition rate of high harmonic sources with attosecond pulse duration [2]. Yb technology gives access to more average power (around the kW) compare to Ti:Sa lasers, but Yb lasers are often longer (250 fs - 1 ps) in duration compared with Ti:Sa (sub-30 fs) and require large compression factors to reach few-cycle pulse durations.
