Abstract
Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) is an active topic of research and standardization, with both the industry and academia actively planning to develop proofs-of-concept (PoCs). Implementing a standards-based MEC infrastructure is expensive and time-consuming, leading to the use of partial implementations or simulation. This paper proposes NETEDGE MEP, an open-source MEC Platform (MEP) based on cloud-native technologies that can be easily deployed and scaled and are fully compliant with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) MEC standards and recommendations. NETEDGE MEP meets the need of researchers and operators who plan to implement realistic PoCs. The tests conducted show that NETEDGE MEP can be deployed as a network service and has a low compute and network resource consumption.
