Abstract
Soft magnetic Fe- $X$ powders with different Ni compositions (Ni = 0, 2.2, 4.4, 6.7, and 8.8 at%) have been synthesized on a 1 kg batch scale, and the effect of Ni content on their magnetic properties has been investigated. The coercivity increased as the Ni content increased. The saturation magnetization was maximum for a Ni content of 4.4 at%. The magnetic properties of the Fe- $X$ powder synthesized in this study on a mass production scale achieved a coercivity of 0.77 Oe and a saturation magnetization of approximately 222 emu/g at a composition of 0.1 at% Mn and 2.2 at% Ni content.
