Abstract
This paper proposes a low-voltage pulse-code digital control scheme for Spatial Light Modulator (SLM). To avoid high voltage swing across the liquid crystal, we shift the operating region towards the linear range by modulating both its top and bottom electrodes. Initial experimental characterizations of the proposed scheme on an in-house fabricated LC device proved that the proposed control scheme can realize efficient optical modulation for low voltage application with up to 6-bit resolution, making it a promising candidate for high-speed, low-power modulation scheme for state of the art SLM applications.
