Abstract
Background: Influenza A is considered a general health system problem. This study was performed to evaluate the disease pattern in patients with influenza A (H1N1) proven in Kashan city in 2019. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was carried out on 53 definite cases of influenza A (H1N1). PCR was performed in all patients with flulike symptoms for confirm diagnosis. The demographic, clinical and para clinical information of patients were collected and analyzed by SPSS 16. Results: In this study were 29 male (54.7%) and 24 female (45.3%). The mean age was 45 ± 18.5. The highest frequency was related to the age group of 61-90 years, 18 (34%) and the lowest frequency was related to the age group of 0-20 years, 5 (9%). Travel history in 5 patients (9.5%) Out of 53 patients, 8 (15.1%) had chronic underlying disease. The mean length of hospital stay was 5±3.49. The most common clinical symptoms were respectively fever in 35(66%), cough in 24(45.3%) and dyspnea in 19 (35.8%) cases. There was increased ESR in 21 (39.6%) and thrombocytopenia in 27 (50.9%) cases. Of the 53 patients, only one case had died. Conclusion: Due to the high prevalence of involvement in the elderly and the occurrence of more complications and death in elderly patients, efforts should be made to prevent the infection of these people over the age of 60 by vaccinating them
