Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to analyse Virgil’s ‘pathetic technique’, that set of textual strategies and expressive stylistic features (lexicon, word order, rhythm, sound) systematically adopted by Virgil to create pathos, i.e. an intense emotional response in the reader.
