Anxiety disorder is a disorder of excessive fear, anxiety and related behavioral disturbances, which is most related to the fear and terror among the seven emotions. Zhang Jingyue had a comprehensive explanation of anxiety disorder in 'Zheng Chong Jing Kong(怔忡驚恐)' of Za-Zheng-Mo from Jing-Yue-Quan-Shu. Zhang Jingyue proposed the pathogenesis, involved organs, treatment principles and formulas of anxiety disorder. Zhang Jingyue also recognized that anxiety disorder would easily develop into a chronic and refractory disease and suggested non-pharmacologic treatment. To sum up, Zhang Jingyue's thoughts on anxiety disorder are compatible with modern medicine and full of clinical value.
