Abstract
Highlights •High fidelity solid-element based numerical models for progressive collapse resistance of RC moment frames are built and validated.•Continuous span beams can be conservatively replaced with the horizontal constraints for simple analysis modeling.•3D Spatial effect significantly improves the progressive collapse resistance of RC moment frames.•Location of removed column significantly affects the progressive collapse resistance of RC moment frames and the slab contribution ratio.
