Abstract
This paper reports on the application of chaotic correlation dimension method in leak identification of transport pipelines. The Grassberger–Procaccia algorithm and the Least Squares Regression method are used to calculate the correlation dimension of pressure signals, then the resulted correlation dimension is further used as a criterion to recognize the negative pressure wave which is an indication of leak faults. Experimental results based on real data indicate that the correlation dimension can reflect the dynamic characteristics of practical pressure signals and therefore can be used as a parameter for condition monitoring and fault identification of the transport pipelines.
