Abstract
Highlights: •Shewanella accelerated the cycle of C, N and Fe redox by promoting electron transfer.•The coupling of Anammox and Bio-Fenton achieved advanced nitrogen and ROM removal.•OH was mainly produced by oxidation of Fe(Ⅱ) through one-electron transfer pathway.•The antioxidant genes were enriched to resist oxidative stress caused by Bio-Fenton.•Shewanella had a mutualistic symbiosis with AnAOB and DB, inhibiting AOB and NOB.
