Abstract
Highlights •NiCo2S4 showed more excellent catalytic performance in activating PMS than NiCo2O4.•SO4•−, •OH, O2•− and 1O2 were jointly responsible for the efficient degradation of atrazine.•Sulfur species can accelerate electron transfer and promote the regeneration of reactive sites.•Atrazine was degraded into intermediates with reduced toxicity in NiCo2S4/PMS.
