Abstract
Highlights •The radiation characteristics of the coolant at the physical start-up determined.•The relative release of fission products from leaky fuel elements are determined.•Sr, I, Te, Rb mainly contribute to the fission products release in leaky fuel elements.•The results will be used to control the increase in fission product release in coolant.
