Abstract
Highlights •Hot extrusion is introduced to process a highly alloyed nickel-based superalloy GH4151.•Samples prepared by hot extrusion and forging and heat treatment show uniform and refined microstructure without cracking.•The refined microstructure gives rise to superior stress rupture properties.•The deformation mechanism and fracture mechanism have been clarified.
