Abstract
Highlights •Ecotoxicity of ten common chain extenders was comparatively investigated using C. elegans.•LC50 of chain extenders varied from 92.42 µg L−1 to 1553.65 mg L−1 after acute exposure.•Sublethal exposures induced various toxicity on growth, lifespan, neurons, and reproductive.•Chain extenders caused upregulated expression of ctl-1,2,3, sod-3, gcs-1, and gst-4.•Hexamethylene diisocyanate/diallyl maleate exhibited high toxicity by comparative analysis.
