@@@@Highlights •Our CFD study aimed to design a compact, effective system for hydrogen production.•We stacked flat MRs and varied their flow configuration and retentate-tube diameter.•The MR stack had a limited size range to maintain its high effectiveness.•Our final stack achieved 99.0 % of the output it would have if it were separate MRs.•We produced results that can guide future studies for designing large-scale MRs.
