Abstract
Highlights •VC and Cr3C2 suppressed the decarburization of WC particles in the HVOF process.•The addition of Cr resulted in the formation of oxide film in high temperature sliding wear.•T2 coating with Cr3C2 added showed better wear resistance due to higher hardness and low porosity
