Abstract
Highlights •An integrated model of the wind turbine-water-monopile-seabed system is established.•It is necessary to consider the effect of the excess pore pressure of soil in the integrated analysis of OWTs.•Neglecting the 3D nature of the seawater is non-conservative for the design of OWT's monopile foundations.•Using an empirical constant to determine the value of soil damping is questionable for the dynamic analysis of OWTs.
