Abstract
Highlights •Umbilical vein blood-derived exosomes induce replication of the intrauterine microenvironment of GDM offspring.•The islets of GDM-offspring mice display a state of overdevelopment and quasi-maturity at birth.•The abnormal maturation of β cells in GDM-offspring is accompanied by the overactivation of α cells.•GDM activates the GLP1-GLP1R axis to promote β-cell functional maturation via Akt-mTORC1 pathway.
