Highlights •Designing a sustainable heat integration method for a biomass-fed gas turbine cycle•Proposed system comprises a CCHP-desalination process modeled by Aspen HYSYS software.•Multi-criteria analysis is undertaken, analyzing different operational scenarios.•The current process yielded energy and exergy efficiencies of 54.26 % and 29.14 %.•CO2 emission and TUEC for the system amount to 0.6544 kgCO2/kWh and 10.28 $/GJ
