Abstract
Depression is global crisis not only because it is common and universal, but because the vast majority of affected people suffer in silence or receive inappropriate care. The present study was conducted on 210 managerial personnel of different private sector organizations to examine the role of social support in the relationship between life events stress and depression in India. Moderated regression analysis revealed that social support (person) moderated the relationship between job negative and depression and also between total negative and depression. Social support (satisfaction) moderated the relationship between job negative and depression, between person negative and depression, between total negative and depression and also between person positive and depression. By increasing the role of social support and reducing life events stress depression can be reduced and managers can improve their mental and physical health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
