Abstract
An interview is presented with philanthropist Melinda Gates and Susan Desmond-Hellman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The two women discuss how Gates recruited Desmond-Hellman to be CEO. Desmond-Hellman says she sees her job as being a manager rather than as a spokesperson for the foundation. Gates says the foundation has raised $2.6 billion to promote family planning in developed countries.
