Abstract
The article discusses research which investigated views of Australian health professionals and the general public with regard to mental illness treatment and prognosis. It describes the role of health professionals in promoting mental health literacy and the need to improve common beliefs about mental health treatments through public education campaigns. It also reports study procedures which include the administration of surveys to participants and the statistical analysis of data gathered.
