Abstract
The article discusses the outbreak of Mycoplasma pneumoniae at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta in 2012. The state Department of Public Health (DPH) investigated the outbreak by identifying the etiology of the disease, finding additional cases and recommending control measures. A quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assay was used to diagnose students. Also identified are the symptoms experienced by the patients and the antibiotics they received as a treatment.
