Abstract
The article discusses an outbreak of hepatitis E infections among refugees in South Sudan's Upper Nile region from July 2012 to January 2013. It mentions a large increase in cases reported from refugee camps or hospitals in Yusuf Batil, Jaman and Gendrassa that may be attributed to factors such as less than optimal water, sanitation and hygiene interventions. Risk ratios for acute jaundice syndrome (AJS) death among pregnant women are also addressed.
