Abstract
Highlights: [•] We modeled the distribution of stoneflies in Illinois, USA using Maxent. [•] Seven thresholds were used to convert suitability scores to species presence–absence. [•] Standard Maxent (β =1) could over- or under-predicted species richness. [•] Models selected based on AICc had β-values of 7–40 and used 77% less parameters. [•] AICc-based models often strongly over-predicted and reached lower accuracy. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
