Abstract
The article focuses on the use of student data portfolios (SDPs) in helping the middle grades learners to evaluate and improve their own academic performance. It cites that SDPs refers to personalized binders composed of tools that can be used by students to learn about assessments, graph their assessment data and monitor their progress toward learning goals. It asserts that adolescents must be helped in developing into metacognitive and self-directed learners.
