Abstract
The article explores the state-level prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) among adults, the effect of COPD on quality of life, and the use of health-care resources by those with COPD. It analyzes data from the 2011 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. It concludes that the overall prevalence of COPD and its associations with health-care use and quality of life make it a serious public health burden that needs to be addressed.
