Abstract
The article offers information on ketamine, a phencyclidine derivative and anaesthetic drug. Various uses of ketamine including its use in wound and neuropathic pain are discussed. Several studies on benefits of ketamine including its effects on morphine consumption, its use in abdominal hysterectomy and orthopaedic surgery are discussed. Also highlighted is the reason behind the resistance to use ketamine due to side-effects such as bladder atrophy.
