Abstract
The article discusses the use of a credit-scoring mechanism for evaluating a client's financial risk in Portugal. It notes that this mechanism which is derived from information assets is essential in financial risk assessment as well as in making decisions based on the risk indicator. The data obtained by financial institutions are considered as valuable sources of information to develop information assets.
