Abstract
The article discusses a research study on deglaciation and exhumation history of the coasts of Ellsworth Land and Marie Byrd Land as part of the "Polarstern" vessel research expedition in Antarctica (ANT-XXVI/3) to collect rock samples from ice free islands and nunataks. Conducted were thermochronological analyses, surface exposure dating and collection of iso-altitude horizontal profiles as well as collecting samples of glacially-eroded bedrock and erratic boulders. Preliminary results showed evidence of late brittle deformation in the Hobbs Coast area, coarse-grained granites with mafic xenoliths observed on the Islands in Pine Island Bay and surface exposure dating samples from Bear Peninsula Hudson Mountains and Thurston Island.
