Abstract
The article discusses human genome studies that indicates host genes influencing susceptibility to leprosy. It also discusses mycobacterium leprae which is considered an etiological agent of human leprosy. Although human leprosy is not highly transmissible, the disease still persists despite medical advancements like chemotherapy. Also mentioned is the twin study of leprosy by M.R. Chackarvartti and F.Vogel.
