The article recounts the history of war between Soviet Union and Germany as German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler launched his first offensive toward the Russian city of Kursk in 1943. The Battle of Kursk was characterized by two prisms including one which was held by a defeated and divided Germany and the other by the oppressive Soviet regime. The objection of Hitler to attack Kursk was to secure the welfare and interests of his forces on the Eastern front. The battle from the time of its inception to the time the German reached Kursk is described in detail.
