Abstract
Piano duets and duo works in piano teaching can be extremely helpful in stylistic interpretation and creative musicianship. When playing duets, both students must agree on all matters of interpretation. As students discuss the measures, surrounding musical material, and overall form of the material, they address tone color and sound quality. Moreover, the two-pianist combination has untapped potential in creative musicianship. Exercises that can be used to help students create their own musically intelligible compositions are outlined.
