Abstract
The authors reflect on the study by S. Rajasekaran et al on the challenges in providing health care services to children with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in India published in the same issue. They note that patients have to travel long distances to avail antiretroviral therapies (ART) due to lack of access to care. Other reasons for travel are inability to pay services in private facilities and stigma linked with the disease. Adherence to ART lies on the developmental needs of the child and psychosocial issues of the caregiver.
