Abstract
The author examines the prevalence of meningitis and septicaemia in Great Britain in 2008. According to the author, meningitis and septicaemia still affects around 3,000 people in the country every year. She notes that many people live with long-term debilitating after effects such as deafness, mental impairment, epilepsy or limb amputations. She also discusses a role school nurses can play in raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia.
