Abstract
The article presents a preliminary report of the Tuniso-Danish survey, which focuses on the small ancient civitas of Segermes (Henchir Harat), located 15 kilometer west of Bou Ficha and 16 kilometer southeast of Zaghouan in northeast Tunisia. Among the archaeological findings from the site, elevated to municipal status by Marcus Aurelius in circa 180, include remains of a temple, forum, baths, basilicas and necropoleis. The current survey aims to reconstruct the economy and society of a region outside the Roman empire. The climate, landscape and water resources are considered in this survey, as well as organization of settlement and production.
