Abstract
The article discusses the depiction of heroism in the context of historical television programs in the U.S. It states that popular biographies are often criticized for their focus on the personal aspects of the man's life rather than the historical and political context in which he moved. It mentions the depiction of former U.S. President Harry S. Truman which centered more on the attributes like feistiness and frankness rather than on the decision process on the Hiroshima, Japan bombing. However, it also cites an example of a biographical depiction that attempted to balance the public and personal life of the person such as "King," which portrayed Martin Luther King.
