Abstract
The article focuses on prospects for a public health perspective on regulating psychoactive drug use. The adoption of a public health perspective on drug use could possibly reduce the adverse health consequences of drug use. This can be done in several ways such as incorporating scientific knowledge about psychoactive drugs into policy-making and using drug abuse treatment as an alternative to arrest and incarceration for drug addicts.
