Abstract
The article reports on the excavation of a 7-million-year-old non-fossilized forest by the archaeologists in Hungary. Paleontologist Miklós Kázmér said that that strip miners are stumbled across the tree stumps while digging for a coal while scientists from Eötvös University in Budapest have identified 16 Taxodium trees standing as much as 6 meters tall and 3.5 meters in diameter. It likewise mentions that the cellulose of the said trees was broken and its lignin has kept the trees standing. Researchers wrapped the tree stumps in the plastics and submerge them in the water for preservation. Paleoecologist Christopher Williams said that scientists could learn a lot from this preserved trees.
