Abstract
The article reports on the excavation plans of a Bosnian businessman Semir Osmanagic who is searching for a buried pyramid in Visoko, Bosnia and Hercegovina. He announces in 2005 that a 360-meter-tall hill that looms over the place is a historical monument which he labeled as the Pyramid of the Sun from an unknown civilization of 12,000 years ago. This hypothesis is supported by geophysicist Amer Smailbegovic who analyzed the satellite imagery, and thermal and radar imaging. However, other archaeologists and geologists believe that the stone slabs found in the place are chunks of sediment. Despite the objections from the academic field, the government has granted Osmanagic all the permits and has even help financed his archaeological exploration.
